“Creating artwork for David and Anna (storeowners) was meaningful because it resonated with my parent’s history. The mural was a representation of a new journey through immigration. It was important to understand the mutuality of migration and trauma from the political wars back in Southeast Asia.
Before relocating to ‘Love and Thai,’ David and Anna experienced false allegations and racist sentiments for their previous store, ‘Tasty Thai.’
It’s unfortunate that systemic racism continues to exist in oppressing people of color and how it violates our human civil rights. Nothing good ever comes from violence or harm. To live peacefully amongst others, there must be an end to all targeted hate.” - Hana Luna Her, artist.
